Hydraulic
Hydraulic elevators are used frequently and have a vast range of applications. Small buildings under G + 5 floors are where hydraulic units are typically found. Hydraulic units are limited by the number of floors that they can serve. Often these limitations are not due to the inability of the equipment, but reflect more on the cost of installation versus the long-term maintenance costs. Hydraulic elevators that serve many floors in high traffic facilities, are not so much cost efficient as traction units, in regard to the units' performance and maintenance cost.

These are passenger elevators where the cabin interior sizes are specially designed to allow stretchers to fit comfortably. Apart from this, features like exceptionally smooth travel, exact matching with landing levels & minimum down-times classifies it as a Hospital Elevator.

Drumwound type without counterweight- This elevator is simpler in design and suited for low cost installations. The movement of the elevator is based on the coiling and uncoiling of a wire rope on a rotating drum. This leads to lesser rope stress and longer life. These elevator are quicker to install and require lesser space.

Traction type with counterweight- This lift is better in terms of machine design and also offers more safety to the user. This is achieved through the use of 3 or more independent wire ropes stretched across the main traction sheave. Secondly, as there is no positive coupling between the lift and the machine, it leads to greater safety as a slip is permitted whenever there is an obstruction to the lift travel. Unlike in the drum wound design there is no overload on the motor in case of lift overshooting at the top floor. It provides Jerk free, smooth, and higher speed travel.

Dumbwaiters are small lifts installed in kitchens for transferring cooked hot food, dirty utensils, raw materials, etc. to various pantries at all floors in multistoried hotels, large households, marriage halls, restaurants, etc. They are usually made of stainless steel so that they are not affected by steam, hot food, water, etc.

Dumbwaiters are also used in hospitals and departmental stores to carry goods to various levels in the building. These can be of S.S. or M.S.

Capacity of Dumbwaiter starts from 20 Kgs onwards as desired. Sizes are from 1½' x 1½' to 3' x 3' or larger if required. About 10" extra space is required in the building to fit this lift and only one wall is required to support the smaller lifts. The entrance can be protected by either a swing window or vertical biparte doors.
